Thank you so much for the video!
A terrifying medical discovery has just been made in Maryland: for the first time in more than six decades, doctors in the United States have confirmed a human infection with the flesh-eating New World screwworm.
The patient, who had recently traveled to El Salvador, returned home unaware that something far more sinister had come back with them. Soon after, disturbing symptoms appeared — and when doctors investigated, they found living larvae that literally devour human tissue from the inside.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officially confirmed the case after examining images of the parasite. According to experts, this is the first human case of travel-associated New World screwworm myiasis detected in the U.S. since the parasite was eradicated over 60 years ago.
While health officials emphasize that the risk to the general public remains low, the case has reignited fears about how easily dangerous parasites can cross borders in today’s globalized world. Could this be an isolated incident — or a warning sign of something bigger?
