A young Chinese woman has captivated millions with her extraordinary ability to portray an android, mastering robotic movements, an emotionless facial expression, and an intricately designed robotic costume.
At a time when corporations are investing billions in robotics and artificial intelligence to make robots appear increasingly human-like, one young woman is determinedly doing the exact opposite—convincingly portraying herself as a robot. Known widely across Chinese social media as the “Robot Girl,” she first gained attention during the 2024 World Robotics Conference in Beijing last August.
